HEAD OF MATHEMATICS- MR DENNIS OMONDI

The department is made up of an able team of seven members. Our objective is to de­mystify and popularize mathematics. We realize our objectives through:

Monday lunch time Maths discussions Wednesday night continuous assess­ment tests Termly inter-house and inter-class Maths contests

Organise mathematics For the Girl Child – an annual invitational event targeting girls’ schools Annual Maseno School national Maths contest in June

Teachers behind Maths success in staffroom

Active participation in other schools’ Maths contests. The department has successfully been running the mathematician of the week pro­gramme, where we reward the student who does the highest number of sums in a week. Our mean score at KCSE has improved from 8.89 in 2002 to 10.39 in 2011. We have suc­cessfully eliminated grade D in national ex­aminations and managed more than 140 A plain at KCSE in 2011 and 162 As in 2012, with a mean of 11.26.  2014 class managed 152 As and 29  A- with  a mean score of 10.915 We are now focusing on eliminating grade Bs.

Other achievements include winning the national Maths Olympiad and representing the country at the international Olympiads in Tunisia and South Africa in 2010 and 2011 respectively.

With all these and with the support of the school administration as well as the enthu­siasm of the students and the energy and commitment of the teachers, Maseno is des­tined to be the Mathematics power house of Kenya.
